Anika Bendel studied stage dance (Berlin and ZZT/HfMT Cologne) and international arts management (CIAM/HfMT Cologne). She is a freelancing dancer, choreographer and arts manager. She danced in choreographies of Michael Maurissens, Rafaele Giovanola (Cocoon Dance), Georg Reischl, Richard Siegal, Jay Pather, Lorca Renoux and Anouk van Dijk.


With her own piece "A Wall by any other Name" she got nominated for the best solo at the Szólo Duo Fesztival in Budapest/Hungary in 2010. Her special interest lies in intercultural and interdisciplinary projects. During a stay in Chennai/India, she got familiar with the south indian classical dance form Barathanatyam. Through a constant dialogue with iranian musicians the video dance film "Elegy of upcoming Memories" was developed in close cooperation with the santour-player Farnaz Modarresifar.


She taught workshops in India, Iran, Sudan and Bangladesh. Within her master studies she completed her internships at the Goethe-Institutes in Sudan and Bangladesh, where she realised own choreographic works.


As the choreographic assistant and production asistant she collaborated with the Berlin choreographer Helena Waldmann on her latest dance production "Made in Bangladesh". Since the world premiere in November 2014 she joins the company as their coordinator on tour.
