Eine choreographische Skulptur: Spiegel - Organismus - Annäherung

IPtanz in collaboration with the Schwerin Cultural Office for German Unity Day 2024

The choreography by Ilona Pászthy and the music by and with the duo Ma.Ori (percussionist Paolo Eleodori and cellist Ulrich Maiß) will be created on the route between the columned building on the Old Town Market and the sculpture “Round Table” by the visual artist Giaccomo Steinbrüggen on Puschkinstrasse.

Five dancers will translate images of opposition, discomfort, adaptation, resistance, mixing, structural dissolution and the renewed discovery of order and form into a dance language. Themes that are reflected in the sculpture by the artist Giacomo Steinbrüggen will be the inspiration for the choreographic design.
The production does not aim to establish opinions or illustrate perspectives, but rather to irritate the usual way of looking at things and thus create a space for thought in which the diversity of people on the street and what they have experienced and seen can be reformulated – a course that the audience can visit, observe, accompany, enter and be part of – a democratic “play space” that moves through the space.

The end point is the sculpture “the round table”.

An important focus of IPtanz’s productions is barrier-free access for everyone. Dance and choreography is a language that, like a metaphor, can make emotions and the reflections of processes and structures visible and tangible beyond words. Accessibility for all people, beyond language and origin, is the focus here. The artistic team is available at certain times for discussions and exchanges with the audience in order to enter into a dialogue about the development of the piece and the impressions gathered by the audience.

There will be three performances of 30 minutes each on October 2 and 3, 2024.
