In the re-installation of the performance “silence” by IPtanz, the body becomes the scene for power, conflict, resistance and attack. By rectifying and extremely slowing down the movement sequences in the encounter with people on the street, connections, cause and effect are placed in a new context. At the same time, the body images slowly and steadily penetrate the living space and confront the viewer without being asked. A circumstance that always accompanies violence. Inspired by the background to acts of war, this aspect of our lives deserves greater attention.
Is violence / aggression no longer indirectly noticeable if it has only penetrated life slowly enough? How do political systems use the habit of violence and aggression? Does time heal the wounds or do we just get used to them over time? What does the performance do with the people on the street who happen to be observers?
