‘Trinity’ is a collage of different female bodies, body images and myths. A female body is viewed, experienced, represented and represented from different perspectives. It mixes cultural imprints, social roles, biological conditions and religion-mediated myths and symbols. From Mother Earth to Saint Mary to Lilith and Mary Magdalene, the clichés of femininity are shaken, they are reassembled and combined. “Trinity” becomes a journey into femininity: a question about the origin of womanhood and an exploration of feminine facets.

“Double premiere at the TanzFaktur in Cologne: in addition to the first presentation of Marje-Leena Hirvonen’s TRINITY, the Deutz dance theater opened its cellar vaults as an experimental stage for the first time. This turned out to be a stroke of luck, also for the shown piece:
In the rawness of the surfaces between bare concrete pillars and improvised lighting, one can creat, try out and every not failed moment is a step forward.
This resulted in some […] beautiful moments in the rows of columns, which were skilfully explored as parallel play areas, especially when Hirvonen entrusted herself to the space and the power of movement, especially towards the end, when the sparse, often cleverly used light hinted at something of the animal power that human existence also includes.”
